Tim Burton will not Return for Beetlejuice 3
The Hollywood Reporter was at the Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice premier and asked director, and Beetlejuice creator, Tim Burton, about the potential for a third go ‘round with everyone’s favourite malicious spirit:
“Well, if [the same]time frame goes on, I’ll be about 100. So maybe. I doubt it,”
Burton stated, referring to the 36 years which has passed between the first two installments in what is now a film franchise. At the age of 66 this isa salient observation from Burton, although the draw to continue on Astrid, Lydia, and Beetlejuice’s story must be strong in a society at the apex of nostalgia baiting.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hit cinemas on September 6th, 2024.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Debuts Second Season to Mixed Reception
After two long years and in the long shadow cast by the success and popularity of the second season of HBO’s House of the Dragon, Amazon Prime debuted three episodes of The Rings of Power yesterday morning. Considering there are only eight episodes total this season dropping almost half of them on premier day is a bold move.
If Amazon were not in the habit of doing this (see: the most recent season of The Boys), I would suspect this is a move driven by fear. I’m sad to report I don’t think the sheer volume of episodes released did The Rings of Power and service with review ranging from middling to bad.
Variety lambasted the series in their title alone:
‘The Rings of Power’ Makes ‘Lord of the Rings’ a Boring Slog in a Lifeless Season 2: TV Review
The Wrap felt much the same:
‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Season 2 Review: TV’s Most Expensive Series Remains Stunningly Boring
Hollywood Reporter agrees:
‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Review: Season 2 of Amazon’s Fantasy Prequel Is Too Epic for Its Own Good
One decenter amongst the crowd was Daily Beast’s review:
‘Rings of Power’ Season 2 Is So Much Better Than ‘House of the Dragon’
… with The Ringer boldly asking:
Is ‘Rings of Power’ Ready to Emerge From the Shadow of Westeros?
Wherever your thoughts on this new season of The Rings of Power the discourse does not seem to have shifted from from the lukewarm reception of the first season. As both seasons were announced simultaneously all eyes in The Lord of the Rings fandom will be on Amazon Studios – and the upcoming New York Comic Con – to see if J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will reveal the future of the series.
The Rings of Power is streaming now on Amazon Prime.
Outer Banks sets Season 4 Release Date & Drops a Trailer
Treasure hunting enthusiasts, unite! Yesterday Netflix dropped a trailer for the upcoming fourth season of Outer Banks:
Outer Banks: Season 4 | Official Teaser | Netflix
No Description
The hunt of Blackbeard’s treasure is back on for John B. and his crew.
Per Netflix’s press release:
After finding the gold at El Dorado, the Pogues return to the OBX and commit to having a ‘normal’ life,” the show’s synopsis reads. “They’ve built themselves a new safe haven, officially dubbed ‘Poguelandia 2.0,’ where they live together and run a fairly successful bait, tackle, and charter tour shop. But after some financial setbacks, John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope and Cleo take Wes up on his offer, drawn back into the ‘G’ game for a whole new adventure. But before they know it, they’re well in over their heads, with dangerous new enemies hot on their heels racing them to the treasure. Meanwhile, their problems are only growing, and they’re forced to question their past, present and future – who they really are, has it all been worth it, and how much are they willing to risk?
Rather than releasing weekly it appears Outer Banks will follow in the steps of Netflix’s other original streaming shows (here’s looking at you, Love is Blind and Love is Blind UK!), with the first five episode streaming October 10th and the final five nearly a month later on November 7th.
