2023 Golden Globe Nominees – Did You Hear? week of Friday, December 15th, 2023

Ashley Victoria RobinsonBy Ashley Victoria RobinsonDecember 15, 20237 Mins Read

Did You Hear? is a weekly examination of headlines in the entertainment industry and a take on what they could mean for the future of the industry and (often), the little geeky bubble that we occupy!

It’s the birth of the 2023 Awards Season, Spoilerites! That’s right! The Golden Globe nominations are here! Let’s dive right in for an early peek at which movies are leading the charge of critical acclaim and put our Delphic Oracle caps on to make some guesses about what the Academy Awards may hold for us in the new year.

    Quick takeaways:

    • Barbie leads the film nominees with 10 nominations
    • Barbies has the second most Golden Globe Nominations in history

    • Two new categories were introduced this year: Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Stand Up-Comedy on Television

    Per Variety:

The first new prize is the Golden Globe for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. Eligible nominees will be among the year’s highest-earning or most-seen feature films that also deliver creative excellence.

    and

The second new category, Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television, recognizes outstanding work from a comic in a traditional stand-up format (or as a breakout comic in a troupe or ensemble).
