My Adventures with Superman Debuts Today
It’s been a good two weeks for genre fans! Last week saw the release of The Witcher season 3 marking Henry Cavill’s final tour as Geralt of Rivia:

Next season the Netflix show will be led by Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games). In the meantime the “Wild Hunt” has drawn focuses of audiences all across social media. The Witcher is poised to occupy the space of the House of the Dragon versus The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power rivalry from last year and is certain to keep Netflix subscribers who are into high fantasy occupied until the new season of Shadow and Bone releases.
But fear not, science fiction fans, there’s something streaming for you too!

Since the rebranding from HBO Max to simply Max there have been whispers as to whether or not subscribers will port directly over. The act of asking consumers to download a completely new app rather than simply redesigning the existing apps strikes me as a good excuse to hop off a subscription you may have been waffling on. This new animated series starring a recognizable genre name feels like a semi-stealthy play by Warner Bros. executives to ensure they keep us comic book geek consumers on the bandwagon. Between the debut of My Adventures with Superman and the earlier announcement of Superman and Lois Lane being renewed for a fourth season we’re definitely on their radar!
The premier went live today and new episodes will be available to stream on Max every Friday.

Anthony Mackie on a Potential SAG-AFTRA Strike
In an interview with Inverse last week Falcon!Cap himself, Anthony Mackie, spoke frankly about what a
potential strike from the Screen Actors Guild could mean for Captain America: Brave New World (a.k.a. his big screen debut as Captain America):
“it’s a shit show if we go on strike,”
… before going on to add that studios are going to need to address actors concerns if they want to keep the Entertainment Industry moving forward:
“They’re going to have to. Unless they get a bunch of fucking YouTubers to make Avengers 5!”
… referring to the fact that New Media creators remain independent and largely unprotected by SAG-AFTRA.
Mackie’s sentiments seem to echo concerns from many A-List stars, especially in light of SAG-AFTRA pushing back the deadline to complete negotiations with the AMPTP from our original June 30th date to July 12th.
Not for nothing, but July 12th is also the day the Emmy Nominations are going to be announced …
I’m certain there will be much more to write about in the coming weeks as SAG-AFTRA debates joining our siblings in the WGA on the picket line.
