Previously in Bishop War College: Bishop, a character from a dystopian future, traveled back in time to prevent his own dark future from becoming a reality. He recently initiated a training program for young mutants to teach them teamwork and tactics. However, on the final day of training, they were attacked by Orchis and the Fenris twins. A mishap caused Tempo and Bishop to be transported to an alternate timeline where they encountered an all-Black version of the X-Men. Meanwhile, Bishop’s students had to put their training into action to defend against Andrea, Andreas, and the Orchis soldiers.

    FINALLY WORKING TOGETHER

Bishop: War College #5 begins with Bishop persuading Tempo to return to their universe and helping her come to terms with her father’s death. As they return, they are immediately thrust into a battle, with Bishop shielding the students from attack. At the same time, the students disable Orchis and prevent them from breaching the Pit. After some intense action, the Fenris twins are thrown into the Pit, and the remaining Orchis members are arrested. Inside the Pit, Andrea and Andreas encounter Mister Sinister.

With the group safe, we get a short epilogue featuring Bishop from Earth-63, where he seeks training from that world’s Magik. Meanwhile, Tempo and Bishop come to grips with what they witnessed in the alternate timeline and their understanding of the All-Black X-Men. Bishop eventually returns to his students, agreeing that some of them are ready for the X-Men but challenging them to another round of training where they team up to fight against Bishop himself.

    SATISYING CONCLUSION

I enjoyed the conclusion of this story arc, although I must admit that not much happened in this particular issue. Bishop: War College #5 ties up loose ends without surprising twists or new ideas. While the concepts presented are satisfying, they could be a bit dull as a standalone issue. However, I believe this title will shine when collected as a trade paperback, as readers will still be reeling from the unexpected revelations. I did appreciate the small moments between Tempo and Bishop, even though some of the potential character development for the students was glossed over.

The artwork throughout the book remained consistently impressive, and I particularly enjoyed the portrayal of Bishop’s powers. The creative team did a great job here.

    BOTTOM LINE: GOOD STORY

Overall, I think this was an excellent story and would highly recommend it as a trade. If you’re interested in delving into the smaller stories within Krakoa, Bishop: War College #5 is a solid choice. Considering everything, I rate it 4 out of 5 stars, and I’m curious to see if any of these students will join the larger X-Men teams.

    Satisfying Conclusion

Bishop: War College #5 provides a satisfying conclusion to the series, but it is better suited for reading as part of a trade rather than as a standalone issue.
