Back in the long ago times, Brian Michael Bendis wrote an autobiographical graphic novel titled Fortune and Glory, which chronicled his adventures as an indie creator trying to make it in Hollywood. Now Bendis is following up that story with Fortune and Glory: The Musical which follows Bendis’ adventures in making Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark.
In the midst of the unprecedented success of Brian Michael Bendis’s character-defining run on Ultimate Spider-Man, and the box office record-breaking Spider-Man films, the writer received a phone call that no one could have predicted. Spidey was going to Broadway, and Bendis was being tapped to collaborate with rock royalty to help the webslinger “find his voice” on stage. Could he overcome his own ignorance about musicals, or would he exit stage left before production began?
Joining Bendis on Fortune and Glory: The Musical is artist Bill Walko. If you are hoping to find this book at your LCS, you’ll be looking for a while, as Bendis is serializing the story on his JInxworld Substack newsletter.
