Here is something that is a bit odd… Marvel Comics is remastering its Masterworks collection for those that missed out on early volumes.
The Remasterworks will be new printings of early Marvel Masterworks, now with improved restoration and expanded bonus material including scans of original art, essays and covers from other collections of the material, house ads, creator bios, and more! Dedicated to Marvel fans, these are the comics that built the Marvel Comics mythology and represent Marvel’s latest step in preserving its treasured history.
First out of the gate is Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider-Man Volume 1 which is set to arrive in May 2023, followed by Fantastic Four and The X-Men.
Here is the sarcastic take on this announcement – George Lucas was a master in getting us to buy the same ticket to see Star Wars again and again and again, and now that Disney owns Lucasfilm and Marvel, it looks like that modality of reselling the same story (with the promise of something new) is in full effect.
