More Spider-Man and Batman Coming – Did You Hear? Week of Friday, February 25th, 2022

Ashley Victoria RobinsonBy Ashley Victoria RobinsonFebruary 25, 2022Updated:February 25, 2022No Comments3 Mins Read

Did You Hear? is a weekly examination of headlines in the entertainment industry and a take on what they could mean for the future of the industry and (often), the little geeky bubble that we occupy!

    The Batman is Almost Here

Ahead of its March 4th release date, The Batman has done super-sealed advanced press screenings and had its red carpet premiere. Following a number of Covid-19 delays which shut down the entire production of days at a time The Batman is almost here.

Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz walked the red carpet together in true Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle style. Pattinson’s oversized suit feels rather Batman: the Animated Series Bruce Wayne-inspired.

A week from today the movie opens, so beware spoilers now!

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME – Special Features Preview

SpiderManNoWayHome swings home on Digital March 22 and on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on April 12! Get more Spidey, more villains, and more fun with over 80 min…

80 Minutes of bonus content from the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home blu ray release have been announced and what little has been revealed from such a plethora of video has already been given the meme treatment. If you’ve been wondering where the discourse around “which Spider-Man wore the fake butt”? Or the picture of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland pointing at each other and reenacting the famous Spidey meme we saw featured first on screen in Into the Spider-Verse look no further than Sony’s marketing featurettes working hard to ensure, just like Spider-Man: No Way Home, this home release out does anything else the rest of the MCU has had to offer up to this point.

    Tarantino Might Get Justified

Earlier this year it was revealed the FX show Justified starring Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins would be returning to television amidst the slough of reboots of popular IP and the swirl of neo-Western content-driven into production by the popularity of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone and its various spin-offs.

Variety  confirmed this week director Quentin Tarantino was in talks to head the project. This after Tarantino’s whirlwind involvement with Paramount Pictures’ Star Trek Kelvinverse movie, which then passed to Noah Hawley, and last week was revived from development Hell.

I found Tarantino to be a surprising choice to work on Justified, but Variety pointed out a previous connection:

Tarantino and Olyphant worked together on the director’s most recent film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” with Olyphant playing James Stacy. Tarantino is also a known fan of Leonard’s work, having adapted his novel “Rum Punch” into his 1997 film “Jackie Brown” and optioning a few more of the author’s titles.

According to the show’s logline, “Justified: City Primeval” “picks up with Givens eight years after he left Kentucky behind. He now lives in Miami, a walking anachronism balancing his life as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 14-year-old girl. His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is suddenly a lot shorter than the road behind.”

Right now Tarantino is rumoured to lead two episodes of Justified: City Primeval, with Dave Andron and Michael Dinner – both, Justified veterans – to serve as showrunners, writers, and executive producers on the show. Dinner has been tapped to direct as well.
