Brubaker and Phillips release new Reckless book in April

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherDecember 14, 20212 Mins Read

Spoilerites, I’m here to share the good news with you, that Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips are bringing us a new Reckless tale in April 2022.

The team of Brubaker and Phillips have quickly climbed the ladder of my favorite creative team, and the Reckless series that launched in 2020, has been nothing but fantastic noir tales from the Southland.

It started with Reckless, followed by Friend of the Devil, and the most recent Destroy All Monsters. Now, I am anxiously awaiting the release of Reckless: The Ghost in You that looks to turn the spotlight on Ethan Reckless’ sidekick Anna.

“The reaction to me and Sean switching to original graphic novels has been amazing, and it’s pushed us creatively, too,” said Brubaker in a press release from Image Comics. “After watching Anna grow over the first three books in the Reckless series, I couldn’t stop thinking about doing a book with her as the lead, working her own case. And it’s a case that lets me dive back into some of my own obsessions, like famous crime scene houses and TV horror hosts of the ’60s and ’70s. This is one strange mystery that Anna finds herself in the middle of.”

In The Ghost in You, it’s the winter of 1989 and Ethan is out of town—so this time, Anna has to tackle the job on her own. When a movie scream queen asks her to prove the mansion she’s renovating isn’t haunted, Anna will stumble into the decades-long mystery of one of Hollywood’s most infamous murder houses…a place with many dark secrets—some of which might just kill her.

If you have enjoy ANY of Brubaker and Phillips work, I honestly believe that Reckless is the series where everything the duo has collaborated on has finally come together in one of the best damn comic book series you will read.

Reckless: The Ghost in You is up for pre-order now from the Major Spoilers Amazon affiliate link. I’ve already placed my pre-order, and in a world where I have mostly switched to digital, I’m more than excited to read the physical copy of this book.

Reckless: The Ghost in You arrives on April 13, 2022.
