    Inferno #2 Review

Christopher RondeauBy Christopher RondeauOctober 27, 20213 Mins Read

Professor X and Magneto have been keeping a secret, but every secret has consequences. Will they be able to keep up their lies? Find out in Inferno #2 by Marvel Comics!

    Inferno #2 Review

    INFERNO #2 (OF 4)

    Writer: Jonathan Hickman

    Colorist: David Curiel
    Letterer: VC’s Joe Sabino
    Editor: Jordan D. White
    Publisher: Marvel Comics
    Cover Price: $5.99
    Release date: October 27th, 2021

Previously in Inferno: Moira has helped Professor X and Magneto create Krakoa while they kept her a secret. She had a request to make sure that Destiny doesn’t get resurrected. When Magneto and Professor X put their plan into action. Mystique however is ahead of them and resurrects Destiny behind their back. After that Mystique tries to elect Destiny to the Quiet Council.

    THE PLACE TO BE

Inferno #2 starts with showing how Mystique is able to resurrect Destiny behind everyone’s back and get enough votes to elect Destiny to the Quiet Council. She used a lot of deceit, stealth, and bribery to make sure they get enough votes to succeed. After the meeting, Professor X and Magneto meet with Moira about what to do because they were several steps behind Destiny. Moira is worried that Destiny will find out about her. The trio then come up with a plan to bring in new allies and they choose to tell Emma Frost about her. When Emma reads Moira’s mind and realizes that she is a mutant, she becomes angry at Magneto and Professor X’s deceit but realizes the importance of what is going on. At the next Quiet Council meeting they nominate their last vacant spot, Colossus.

    MUTANT POLITICS

I find Inferno #2 ironic. Professor X and Magneto spent years trying to deal with persecution and anti-mutant legislation. Now that they are leaders, they must try and employ shady tactics that they used to fight against. While this isn’t a direct or fair comparison, it is still an interesting thought exercise. But they aren’t as good at it as Mystique, which makes Mystique an excellent antagonist to the story. And I think it is neat that I do not know what is going to happen next. There is a lot going on here that isn’t leading up to a specific ending, which is a refreshing change of pace.

Now I need to talk about the elephant in the room. The price is very high. While you do get a double size comic, it is still a decent amount of money to drop in a book that doesn’t have a lot of action and excitement. For me, I enjoy the drama and the tension while exploring themes of politics and government. But I admit that may not be for everyone. Still, this was a decent pick up that you will enjoy if you are following the new X-Men comic lines.

    BOTTOM LINE: DECENT

Inferno #2 is a good comic that is setting up the next event for Krakoa. If you are interested in superhero based comics, then this is an excellent pick up. This is a 3.5 out of 5 for and I will likely pick up the next issue to review.
