IT’S NEW COMIC BOOK DAY! #NCBD

The best day of the week just got a lot better with a new round of awesome comics arriving in stores this week. Staff members at Major Spoilers are here to help you with your comic book selection this week, with their roundup of comics they recommend.

    ADVENTUREMAN #5
    Writer: Matt Fraction
    Artist: Terry Dodson
    Publisher: Image Comics
    Cover Price: $3.99
    SOLICITATION: “TO THE GREATEST UNKNOWN”
As New York City teeters on the brink of a strange armageddon, Claire tries the Adventureman mantle on for size just in time to face the monstrous evil that vanquished her predecessor—only he didn’t have a family like hers.

INGRID: Claire is back, and she is stepping into the shoes of Adventureman! It’s two-fisted action with a dash of superheroes and a generous helping of villains. The first arc was an absolute delight, and I am hugely looking forward to where the story is going next.

You can never go home, said Sol, way back in issue two. Let’s see if he was right.

    THE GOOD ASIAN #5
    Writer: Pornsak Pichetshote
    Artist: Alexandre Tefenkgi
    Publisher: Image Comics
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Suffering a traumatic loss, Edison Hark relives the pivotal and contentious moments that led a Chinese-American to become a cop in 1930s America, as the “secret origin of Edison Hark” is revealed.

CHRISTOPHER: This story has been a great experience to witness. The noir type story is engaging, and it shines a lot on an important part of Asian-American history.

INGRID: Finally, the origin story of Edison Hark, as hard-boiled a detective as they come, and a man caught between two worlds. The history is fascinating and easily provides outsized complications in a gripping mystery plot. If a classic, gritty mystery is your thing, this book does not disappoint.

STEPHEN: If you haven’t been paying attention to my words, here they are again, “Get The Good Asian! This is a fantastic series!” This message repeats in 30 days.

The rulers of Krakoa have been playing a dangerous game with a dangerous woman, and they are about to see how badly that can burn them. Mastermind of the X-Men JONATHAN HICKMAN brings his plans to a head, joined by an incredible lineup of artists beginning with VALERIO SCHITI… as one woman follows through on her promise to burn the nation of Krakoa to the ground.

CHRISTOPHER: I have enjoyed this new era of the X-Men and I am waiting anxiously for everything to go wrong. Maybe this is it!
