New Shang-Chi Trailer – Did You Hear? Week of Friday, June 25th, 2021

Ashley Victoria RobinsonBy Ashley Victoria RobinsonJune 25, 2021Updated:June 25, 20212 Mins Read

Did You Hear? is a weekly examination of headlines in the entertainment industry and a take on what they could mean for the future of the industry and (often), the little geeky bubble that we occupy!

    Shang-Chi Drops Second Trailer

Last night Disney dropped the second trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits cinemas on September 3rd, 2021.

    New Shazam Costumes

Earlier this week Warner Bros released the first promotional picture for Shazam the Fury of the Gods. The costumes have a distinct Justice League-inspired redesign across the board.

Fan reactions have been mixed. Everything from excitement at seeing the full adult Shazam family in their regalia to criticism of the “Snyderization” of previously existing looks for each character. Mary Marvel in particular has faced mixed reception across social media.

Shazam the Fury of the Gods hits cinemas worldwide on June 2, 2023

    Loki Celebrates Pride

During this week’s Loki episode on Disney+ fans got confirmation that the MCU’s Loki Laufeyson is bisexual – just before the end of Pride Month. As Variety pointed out in their coverage of the announcement, this makes Loki the first prominent character in the MCU to fall onto the 2SLGBTQIA+ spectrum.

Given the sheer amount of bi-erasure across pop culture (Sara Lance and John Constantine over on the DC side being the most obvious exceptions), this is a pretty exciting moment. It is also worth noting because Loki is now halfway through the season with this revelation coming in the third episode.
