I like to think I have a pretty good memory, even if it seems to be centered entirely on useless trivia and comic book effluvium.  (Like Tod Holton, Super Green Beret.)  So it was naturally a bit disconcerting recently to bump into a movie called The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, which featured entirely the wrong actors in the role.  Somehow, my brain had conflated this movie with Spy Kids, and so I kept expecting to see Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara as the main characters, instead of Taylor Lautner and the girl who clearly gave Ariana Grande her aesthetic.  It’s not the first time my brain made such a substitution, as I clearly remember John Amos playing George Jefferson when I was very young, leading to today’s wrong actor query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) also keeps thinking that Moose from You Can’t Do That On Television was Cobie Smulders, asking: What roles do you remember with the wrong actor?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

For the longest time I thought that the immortal cop TV Show ‘New Amsterdam’ starred Two-Face (Aaron Eckhart) instead of Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

Michael Douglas is in my mind in every movie Harrison Ford, Kurt Russell or several other similar guys are not, but can’t really remember who was.
