Major Spoilers Question of the Day: Formidable Composite Edition

Matthew PetersonBy Matthew PetersonMay 7, 20214 Comments1 Min Read

Sometimes, it’s difficult to decide between two good things.  One sometimes isn’t sure what to choose between chocolate or peanut butter, between surf and turf, between things and ideas.  Sometimes, you wake up at the crack of noon, and think “It’s gig time…  What T-shirt am I gonna wear?  Can’t decide… Can’t DECIDE..  BRAIN ANEURYSM!!!”  The same is often true of our pop culture, which might lead to combining Batman and Spider-Man (Spider-Bat) or Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel (Wonder Marvel) or Cain Marko and Forsythe P. Jones, inevitably leading to today’s half-and-half query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) thought that “all the powers of the Legion Of Super-Heroes circa 1961” was a bit like overkill, asking: What TWO characters would you merge to make the most formidable composite?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.
