As it happens, yesterday was my 26th wedding anniversary (gifts welcome, but you gotta find my address ya’self), which got me to thinking about the nature of pop culture anniversaries. I vividly remember watching ‘The Five Doctors’ back in 1980-something, while the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who has already come and gone, reminding me that I’m old. If memory serves, this year is the 55th anniversary of both ‘The Monkees’ and ‘Star Trek’, and I still remember both series 25th celebrations with glee, but which would I say was my favorite? Could it be Sisko on the bridge of the Enterprise? The Superman reboot? The hundredth episode appearance of the titular mother on ‘How I Met Your Mother?” It leads us to today’s milestone query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) can’t beat the 35th anniversary celebration of Super Sentai, which lasted an ENTIRE SEASON, asking: What anniversary celebration in pop culture is your favorite of all?

I think they missed the mark for actual anniversary a bit, but #1000 release from Criterion was super awesome 15 disc blu-ray set of Showa era Godzilla movies.
