The Scooby Gang has been around for literally my entire life, and they’ve been through a lot of changes. There was the cycle of celebrities, the times where they were kids, even one where they teamed up with Blue Falcon as part of a strange Hanna-Barbera Expanded Universe pitch. For my money, you can’t beat the Scooby-Doo movies, featuring Davy Jones, Don Knotts, Cass Elliot and more, but even the weird ‘Family Guy’ styled season has its moments. That’s why I can’t understand why people are so freaked out by Shaggy Rogers wearing a red shirt during ‘The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo’. The Shaggy Red or Shaggy Green conundrum seems simple to me, as red is objectively the better color overall, and it even helps to make our man Norville’s sallow skin look healthier, leading to today’s chromatic query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) thinks that the Jerry Reed episode is probably the apex of Scooby-Doo-ery, asking: Do you prefer Shaggy Red or Shaggy Green?

He started off in green and in the majority of the cartoons, he has been in green. So always green.
If I close my eyes & picture him, it’s always in a green shirt; I wasn’t even aware there was a series where he’s wearing red. But I’m not going to begrudge a guy a change of shirt every now and then. Clean clothes and good hygiene are important if you want to have friends, after all.
jeez. i didn’t even realize there was a red-shirted Shaggy. that’s like some mirror universe BS. green shirt all the way.
