IT’S NEW COMIC BOOK DAY! #NCBD

The best day of the week just got a lot better with a new round of awesome comics arriving in stores this week. Staff members at Major Spoilers are here to help you with your comic book selection this week, with their roundup of comics they recommend.

    The Amazing spider-Man #50AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #50
    Writer:  Nick Spencer, Matthew Rosenberg
    Artist: Federico Vicentini
    Publisher: Marvel Comics
    Cover Price: $3.99
    SOLICITATION:

    • “LAST REMAINS” is so huge it cannot be contained within the pages of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.
    • Kindred’s assault is so epic, it’s going to sweep the other Spider-Heroes of the Marvel Universe up in its wake.
    • All this and the bombshell dropped at the end of ASM #49 rolls toward one of Marvel fandom’s favorite characters.

STEPHEN: Really enjoy everything going on with Spider-Man, and since this feels like a big milestone issue, you know this is the top of my reading list this week.

Dark Nights: Death Metal Robin King #1DARK NIGHTS: DEATH METAL ROBIN KING #1
Writers: Tony Patrick, Peter J. Tomasi
    Artists: Daniel Sampere, Riley Rossmo
    Publisher: DC Comics
    Cover Price: $5.99
SOLICITATION: With a utility belt filled to the brim with weapons designed to kill every hero in the DCU, Robin King is the most sadistic soldier in the Darkest Knight evil army! Can anyone stop him from laying waste to Earth’s last line of defense? And how did he become one of the Batman Who Laugh’s groblins in the first place? And in the backup story, can the Robins liberate Gotham City from the Darkest Knight’s control?

STEPHEN: Definitely a weird one, but since it ties into what is going on in the greater DCU, might as well check this one out.

HEIST OR HOW TO STEAL A PLANET #7
    Writer: Paul Tobin
    Artist: Arjuna Susini
    Publisher: Vault Comics
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Okay, so everything’s going wrong. Eddy is now working for the Dignity Corporation, and he (and a few billion other folks) are trying to murder Glane. Surely, though, Glane has a contingency plan for this, right? Maybe? Something? And if suddenly living in the center of a storm isn’t bad enough, Glane learns his master plan is just a cog in the TRUE mastermind’s plan. Who’s in charge here?!

INGRID: There’s no heist like a big heist, and it just doesn’t get any bigger than this. The plot twists and turns at high speed through a crazy, futuristic world. It’s brash, it’s deviously clever, and it’s full of interesting and dangerous characters. Heist just keeps getting better and better!

JIM HENSON’S THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE #12 (OF 12)
    Writer: Matthew Erman
    Artist: Jo Migyeong
    Publisher: BOOM! Studios
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: All-Maudra Mayrin and Kam’Lu may have finally escaped the belly of the beast, but their journey is not yet over. From the depths of the Silver Sea, in the bowels of Thra, an ancient enemy emerges, one that threatens to destroy their whole world!

CHRISTOPHER: After the cancellation of season 2 of the Netflix show, this is possibly the last piece of Dark Crystal media I am going to get for a while. I am going to savor and it enjoy it!

SERA AND THE ROYAL STARS #8
    Writer: Jon Tsuei
    Artist: Audrey Mok
    Publisher: Vault Comics
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Tara and Roya make a valiant escape from their captors with the help of a long-lost ancestor. As the three travel together, the history of the Daughters of Parsa is revealed, but so is a new threat, the fabled Serpent King.

INGRID: Evocative and imaginative, Sera and the Royal Stars is a treat to read and is even more luscious to look at. Sera’s mother is still alive, and now her sister is drawn into the family’s duty to save the Stars and to save Parsa itself. It’s an epic tale with a richly folkloric feel and full of wonderful characters.

ROBOT OVERLORD: Nothing seems impossible to you.
