IT’S NEW COMIC BOOK DAY! #NCBD

The best day of the week just got a lot better with a new round of awesome comics arriving in stores this week. Staff members at Major Spoilers are here to help you with your comic book selection this week, with their roundup of comics they recommend.

    Adventure Man #4ADVENTUREMAN #4
    Writer: Matt Fraction
Artist: Terry Dodson and Rachel Dodson
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: On the eve of the rise and return of the greatest evil the world has ever seen, only Claire Connell and her family can save us as the mantle of ADVENTUREMAN passes between generations.

CHRISTOPHER: The theme of legacy runs through this comic title and leads an unlikely heroine to fall easily into an unlikely mantle. Great stuff in this series.

INGRID: This is such a fun book. It’s full of stunning artwork and a wonderful cast of characters. At the center of it all, Claire has a captivating sense of adventure that convincingly connects the present to the past and fantasy to reality.

STEPHEN: This series is a lot more fun than it should be. Definitely a must read, and the art is fantastic!

    DIE #14
    Writer: Kieron Gillen
    Artist: Samathan Hans
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: “THE GREAT GAME,” Part Four
“Hey, Stephanie, shall we do DIE’s take on the big battles in Return of the King?”
“Sure thing, Kieron. Can you add some big emotional messy beats to the visual splendor?”
    “Sure thing!”

CHRISTOPHER: One of the best series being written in my opinion. Deep themes, great art, and protagonists that are diverse, messed up, and trying to cope with the situation that they are forced in.

    INKBLOT #2
Writer: Rusty Gladd and Emma Kubert
Artist: Rusty Gladd and Emma Kubert
    Publisher: Image Comics, Inc.
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: After vanishing from The Seeker’s library in the Living Castle, the magical cat wanders deeper into the Forestlands and finds a clan of elves. Something lurks in the haunted cave nearby, and the elves must go to investigate with the help of their new kitty companion…

INGRID: A cat…will persist in being a cat. The magical cat at the center of Inkblot is ridiculously cute, and it is a clever device to lead us through a fantasy world by showing us very traditional plots with a viewpoint that changes their focus distinctly. It’s a charming way to deliver new twists to old tropes

    X OF SWORDS: WOLVERINE #6
    Writer: Ben Percy
    Artist: Viktor Bogdanovic
    Cover Price: $3.99
    SOLICITATION:
    X OF SWORDS, PART 3
Descent. Penance. A legendary power reclaimed.
    Parental Advisory

CHRISTOPHER: I like the X of Swords X-men crossover event and it seems Wolverine is going back to his Japan roots in this issue. Looking forward to the next chapter!

ROBOT OVERLORD: Your dearest wish will come true.
