    Question Of The Day

Major Spoilers Question of the Day: Team Transport Edition

Matthew PetersonBy Matthew PetersonApril 28, 20204 Comments1 Min Read

As a kid, I was fascinated by ‘Battle of the Planets’, not because it was well-written, but because of the awesome music and incredible designs.  As great as the uniforms were, though, the piece de resistance was The Phoenix, a massive team transport ship that combined the mass of an aircraft carrier with the sleek design of a fighter, and occasionally burtst into flames in a dramatic way.  It also served as a carrier for four individual vehicles as well, putting it near the top of the ranks and leading to today’s high-speed query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) would also argue strongly for The Mystery Machine and Ted “Blue Beetle” Kords’ Bug when it was the Justice League’s main ride, asking: Which fictional squad has the best Team Transport of them all?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

The best name at least is Robotech’s fighter squads carrier ships original name: Superdimension Fortress Macross, or Super Spacetime Fortress Macross if you will.

Malone, Robotech Macross came to mind too. the SDF-1 is a character in itself.

Great minds and all that, you know.

This is such a difficult question for me, as the vehicles are my favorite part of anything and picking a favorite is like choosing a favorite child.

But you guys hit my button with Robotech/Macross, and there’s no way I’m allowed to disagree with that particular answer.
