IT’S NEW COMIC BOOK DAY! #NCBD

The best day of the week just got a lot better with a new round of awesome comics arriving in stores this week. Staff members at Major Spoilers are here to help you with your comic book selection this week, with their roundup of comics they recommend.

    ADLER #2
    Writer: Lavie Tidhar
    Artist: Paul McCaffrey
    Publisher: Titan Comics
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: After uniting some of the most famous heroines of the Victorian age including Jane Eyre, Miss Havisham and Marie Curie, Irene Adler must finally come face-to-face with Sherlock Holmes’s greatest nemesis, Moriarty!

World Fantasy Award winning writer Lavie Tidhar and TMNT artist Paul McCaffrey present an alternate history of the greatest literary characters of the 19th Century in the vein of Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen!

INGRID: I love comics, but I also have a deep fondness for 19th century literature. This is essentially a League of Extraordinary Gentlewomen, which hits both these genres with so much potential for fun. I am definitely looking forward to this one!

    CABLE #1
    Writer: Gerry Duggan
    Artist: Phil Noto
    Publisher: Marvel Comics
    Cover Price: $4.99
    SOLICITATION: THE DAWN OF REBELLION!
Cable was a grizzled old veteran of the wars to save the future… and he will be again. But for now, he’s a young mutant living in paradise leading a life of adventure! Nathan Summers, son of two of the most powerful mutants on Krakoa, has a destiny leading the youth of mutantkind in rebellion… so why not start now? Gerry Duggan (MARAUDERS, DEADPOOL) and Phil Noto (STAR WARS, POE DAMERON) bring us young Cable as we’ve never seen him before!

CHRISTOPHER: I like the concept and the premise. Seems to be a fun read for the week to put on my comic list.

    DECORUM #1 (OF 8)
    Writer: Jonathan Wickman
    Artist: Mike Huddleston
    Publisher: Image Comics
    Cover Price: $4.99
SOLICITATION: SERIES PREMIERE! There are many assassins in the known universe. This is the story of the most well-mannered one. “Manners are a sensitive awareness of the feelings of others. If you have that awareness, you have good manners, no matter what knife you use.”

CHRISTOPHER: I wasn’t sure about this title but this is a well written solicitation that hooks me into checking out this first issue.

    RONIN ISLAND #11
    Writer: Greg Pak
    Artist: Giannis Milonogiannis
    Publisher: BOOM! Studios
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: The war for the Island rages on-but in the heat of battle, will neither side open their eyes to the true threat bearing down on them, in the form of the Byonin?

INGRID: Ronin Island is consistently good. Not only is it a great coming-of-age story with a hefty dose of Asian history and culture, but it is an incredible adventure that asks a lot of serious questions. Can the ideals that Hana and Kenichi grew up with stand up to the hypocrisy of the real world? Every issue is a treasure.

    STAR WARS BOUNTY HUNTERS #1
    Writer: Sacks, Ethan
    Artist: Paolo Villanelli
    Publisher: Marvel Comics
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: NEVER BETRAY A BOUNTY HUNTER – ESPECIALLY IF IT’S BOBA FETT!
Years ago, VALANCE and fellow bounty hunters BOSSK and BOBA FETT took on a mission that went sideways in a bad way after Valance’s mentor, NAKANO LASH, violently betrayed them. Valance’s team barely escaped with their lives. He never thought he’d face his old mentor ever again…until Lash finally resurfaces under mysterious circumstances. Every bounty hunter in the galaxy wants a piece and Valance is hell-bent on getting to the prize first. He has score to settle-but so does Boba Fett!

ETHAN SACKS (OLD MAN HAWKEYE and GALAXY’S EDGE) and PAOLO VILLANELLI (VADER: DARK VISIONS and JEDI FALLEN ORDER – DARK TEMPLE) are teaming up to bring you the bounty hunter adventure you’ve been waiting for this March!
    Rated T

STEPHEN: If you enjoyed The Mandalorian, then check out Star Wars Bounty Hunters #1. Perhaps this is a great way for you to get into the Marvel Star Wars Comic Book Universe? This is the way.

    STEALTH #1 (OF 6)
    Writer: Mike Costa
    Artist: Nate Bellegarde
    Publisher: Image Comics
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: SERIES PREMIERE! For decades, Stealth has waged war on crime in Detroit, but now he’s taken his pursuit of justice too far. Only reporter Tony Barber knows that behind Stealth’s reckless behavior is an older man battling Alzheimer’s-his father. A father unwilling to accept that he’s no longer the hero this city needs… with enemies all too eager to force his retirement. Created by ROBERT KIRKMAN and MARC SILVESTRI, STEALTH is an action-packed series, perfect for readers who enjoy Black Panther and Iron Man.

CHRISTOPHER: What a protagonist… a man fighting Alzheimer’s. I hope they can approach it with the subtlety to pursue such a topic. Regardless, my curiosity is peaked!

TALES FROM HARROW COUNTY DEATHS CHOIR #4
    Writer: Cullen Bunn, Tyler Crook
    Artist: Naomi Franquiz
    Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: After taking care of the banshee, Bernice hunts down the source of recent disturbances discovers an old woman with a very personal motive behind raising the dead with a ghostly song-and a darker force manipulating it all.

STEPHEN: Harrow County is a hit for Cullen Bunn and Tyler Crook, and Tales fromHarrow County is another winner that is worth adding to your collection this week.
