Major Spoilers Question of the Day: Video Game Hard Work Edition

Matthew PetersonBy Matthew PetersonOctober 25, 20193 Comments1 Min Read

Thanks to an unexpected sick day this week, I managed to get some console time with ‘Diablo III’, something I’ve been unable to do for several months now (though buying ‘Spider-Man’ probably set me back more than the general “not having time” problem.)  In that time, I also managed to finally complete a coveted set of armor, the Firebird’s Finery, with serious in-game bonuses for my wizard.  It’s a quest I’ve been working off-and-on since August, and I’ve put in a lot of hours in various dungeons trying to find all six pieces, a quest complicated by accidentally destroying the gloves and being unable to find a replacement, because I’m an idiot.  Still, it’s a lot of effort to go to for an imaginary power boost, leading to today’s Nephalem query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) also filled all ONE HUNDRED Create-A-Wrestler slots in my last WWE video game, including complicated backstories because I’m me, asking:  What’s the most video game hard work you’ve ever done for a specific goal?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

I finished Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls. More importantly, beat Mike Tyson in NES Punch Out.
