INGRID: Vault has some of the most interesting titles out there, and this is one of them. A strong and engaging heroine, a setting that is not one we see all the time, and the Royal Stars themselves – personifications of actual stars – come together in a rich story line. Top it off with drop-dead gorgeous art, and it’s a real winner!

Tragically, a shuttle accident sends her and the rest of the passengers careening toward a cold, frosty death among the stars. But when a gigantic, space-faring tardigrade miraculously rescues Vess and her beloved retro Discman, it’s the beginning of an extraordinary friendship and an incredible journey home, all set to the nostalgic tunes of Vess’ 1990s-heavy playlist.
INGRID: Space adventures, aliens, 1990’s nostalgia, and a giant tardigrade – it’s a recipe for some crazy fun. And trust me – it does all work together! This is not a story you’ve read before and it’s a delight.

Except in this world, Al Capone isn’t dealing in alcohol, but in magic. With Lick, a drug that grants magical powers to anyone who ingests it, mobsters become wizards, ordinary men become monsters, and darker secrets than Ness can imagine lie at the heart of it all.
CHRISTOPHER: Urban fantasy is mixed with the 1930s crime scene. My interest in history and magic is met in a great amalgam that I cannot pass up this week!
STEPHEN: This is a series that starts off with a band and doesn’t let up. I love the mix of magic and mundane, mobsters, and wizards. Definitely the must have book this week.
