Major Spoilers Question of the Day: The Perfect Storm Edition

    Matthew PetersonBy Matthew PetersonAugust 27, 2019Updated:August 27, 20192 Comments1 Min Read

Superheroes, as a rule, will change costumes at the drop of a hat.  Creating a complete listing of Iron Man’s armors since 1963 would not only take up far too much of your time, it would look like half a dozen DIFFERENT heroes standing in a row.  Still, allowing for technology, few heroes have made as drastic a series of tonsorial decisions as the X-Man known as Storm.  Originally clad in a unique cape & thigh boots costume, Storm of the the 80s rocked a  Mister T-inspired punk ensemble, followed by a transition into a big-shoulders-big-hair 90s incarnation that bore little to no resemblance to any of her previous uniforms.  Ororo, it seems, likes to reinvent herself.  Of course, with that many options, opinions will vary as to which is best, which leads us to today’s chameleonic query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) was around 13 years of age when Storm bared her midriff and put on the leather pants, so my decision may not be entirely quantitative in nature, asking: Which Storm is your Perfect Storm: Original Storm, Punk Rock Storm or cartoon-era Shoulder-Pad Storm?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

I liked depowered Punk Rock Storm. That fight with Callisto was da bomb and happened just before the new look. My favorite era of Storm.

Its not easy to choose, but probably original. That team she was in is perfect in my mind.
