IDW Publishing teased attendees at its San Diego Comic Con panel with a bit of a surprise. ROM the Spaceknight is coming back for another run!

Though no creative team was announced, we did learn that the series will be titled ROM: Dire Wraiths. According to report at Newsarama, the first issue kicks off with the Dire Wraiths showing up during the 1959 moon landing.

I’ll admit there is some confusion by Yours Truly over this announcement, as Newsarama states the US Moon Landing in 1959, as it was the Soviet Union who landed a probe on the Moon in 1959, with the United States landing in 1969. Either there is a typo on someone’s part, or this series will have some alternate history going on.

The previous IDW Publishing series ran 15 issues, and did included the Dire Wraiths (first appearing in the Marvel ROM series in 1979), so seeing their first incursion on Earth should be interesting.

The announcement was to be a teaser announcement as no creative team has been announced just yet.
