STACY: We’ve seen him handle the Man of Steel, now we get to see him tackle The Batman. This limited series is collecting the story from the DC 100-Page Comic Giant Batman title that sold as an exclusive at Wal-Mart last year, so for many it is a first chance to read it. I tell you what, you want to. Wonderful art with a puzzling mystery, it’s a great chance to catch it if you missed it.

INGRID: Bitter Root is a truly amazing book. Here, in the break between Volumes 1 and 2 we get to dive into the history of this group of incredible characters. What has happened to them in the past to make them who they are now?
BLACK HAMMER/JUSTICE LEAGUE #1

MATTHEW: Okay, there’s no way that this story should ever work, so I’m gonna sit back and watch Lemire prove me wrong. Also: BAMALAM!
STEPHEN: This is a very solid first issue, and fans of Black Hammer and Justice League will enjoy the heck out of this issue.
GIANT SIZE X-STATIX #1
Writer: Peter Milligan
Artist: Michael Allred
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $4.99

Only the original X-Statix creative team Peter Milligan, Michael Allred and Laura Allred know for sure!
MATTHEW: I blame Deadpool 2, but I also have no problem revisiting the greatest X-team in history. I’m just hoping that their resurrections make sense… At least, as much sense as these things ever make.
INVISIBLE WOMAN #1
Writer: Mark Waid
Artist: Mattia De Iulis
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Fresh from the pages of FANTASTIC FOUR, for the first time Susan Storm-Richards stars in her own limited series – and the secrets about her past revealed therein will shake readers’ perceptions of the Invisible Woman forevermore! Years ago, she undertook an espionage mission for S.H.I.E.L.D. – and now it’s up to her to save her former partner from death at the hands of international terrorists!
MATTHEW: My favorite FF member in an adventure by one of my favorite writers? I’m in. I’m not entirely sure where it’s going, but this means that of the Four, only Mister Fantastic hasn’t had his own solo book.
MARVEL ACTION: BLACK PANTHER #2
Writer: Kyle Baker
Artist: Juan Samu
Publisher: IDW Publishing
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: From the mind of multiple Eisner and Harvey award winner Kyle Baker! With Wakanda plagued by deadly weather, Black Panther must discover what-or who-is behind the events before more of his people suffer. Luckily, he has his sister, Shuri, and mother, Ramonda, by his side ready to help. All-new action in the Mighty Marvel Manner!
STACY: While this title is advertised to be aimed at the middle grade ages, it really provides enjoyment for all-age. With a solid story, great art, and a lack of baggage, this is something everyone in your reading circle will enjoy.
WONDER TWINS #6
Writer: Mark Russell
Artist: Stephen Byrne
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: The Scrambler has given the world one month to fix everything—or else suffer “The Great Scramble,” a dastardly plot that would swap the consciousnesses of everyone on the planet. As the scramble before the scramble commences, the Wonder Twins must team up with the Justice League to put a stop to the Scrambler’s plan! But an unexpected twist puts Jayna in conflict with the Justice League—will she choose the path of justice even if it means losing her best friend?
INGRID: I’ve been enjoying the Wonder Comics line that DC has going, and Wonder Twins is a stellar centerpiece to the line. There’s a terrific balance between goofiness and serious plot undertones, high school shenanigans and commentary on our modern world that makes it fun and topical.
