Over the last couple of years, entirely by accident, I have developed a love for Sponch, a strawberry/coconut/marshmallow cookie that you can only buy in the Dillons on the Spanish-speaking side of town. It’s one of the best snack cakes I’ve ever had, with sweetness and crunch and a nice mouth-feel, whatever that means. It has actually eclipsed my previous favorite, the raspberry Zinger, which lost it’s place when Hostess disappeared and the new company for some reason changed the formula, leading to today’s baked query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) would go with a nice fudge-dipped Twinkie, if they weren’t so messy and 17 billion calories, asking: What’s your favorite snack cake ala Sponch?

I hate to pull an “in the old days,” but I used to love the simple Hostess Chocolate CupCake®. Last one I had was 15 or 20 years ago and it tasted like corn syrup, which is why it was the last. So it might count?
In my old age, I just eat the darkest, most bitter chocolate and nothing more. It matches the drapes of my soul.
Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies hold a special place in my tummy.
