Writer: Brian Wood
Artist: Robert Carey
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Following the events of Alien: Isolation, Amanda Ripley is kept silent by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation about the xenomorph threat. Enter Zula Hendricks, an Ex-Colonial Marine, in need of Ripley’s help to expose a sinister bio-weapons program. The duo teams up against an upgraded arsenal designed to keep the darkest atrocities secret!

RODRIGO: This book is probably a lot more satisfying if you played Alien: Isolation. I did not, but I did read an advanced copy of the issue and I still found it enjoyable.

Writer: Carly Usdin
Artist: Noah Hayes
Publisher: Boom! Studios
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Giant Days meets Check, Please, from the creator of Heavy Vinyl! · Welcome to the Georgia O ‘Keeffe College of Arts and Subtle Dramatics, an historically all-female school whose population is decidedly more drama geek than jock. · Liv, aspiring actor and basketball enthusiast, doesn’t understand why she can ‘t be both, but she seems alone in that belief… until Charlie. · Charlie is a recent transfer, a star basketball player, and the answer to all of Liv ‘s problems. She ‘ll stop at nothing to get Charlie to join the ragtag group of misfits that make up their fledgling basketball team. · Carly Usdin (Heavy Vinyl) and Noah Hayes (Goldie Vance) present a touching tale about finding what you’fre looking for… on and off the court.

RODRIGO: An underdog sports story!? The 90s certainly conditioned me to be into this. Also, this looks super cute, you guys.

Writer: Robert Venditti
Artist: Eddy Barrows
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: The Freedom Fighters go public in present-day Nazi America! It’s been 50 years of fascist rule in the U.S. under Hitler and his heirs, and frankly, everyone’s had enough. A new Freedom Fighters team makes a very public debut in hopes of rallying the people and re-igniting the long-dormant American spirit. Phantom Lady, Black Condor, Doll Girl and Human Bomb strike a blow against the Gestapo’s Iron Police Force, but will it be enough to summon the long-lost Uncle Sam from retirement?

WAYNE: If Mr. Venditti writes a comic, I highly recommend you buy it! His Hawkman is terrific, and this book has hit the ground running!

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker
Artist: Jamal Campbell
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: DC’s biggest, newest mystery starts here!

When a fight between Superman and Mongul crashes into a small Northwestern town, Naomi (last name?) begins a quest to uncover the last time a super-powered person visited her home—and how that might tie into her own origins and adoption.

Follow Naomi’s journey on a quest that will take her to the heart of the DC Universe and unfold a universe of ideas and stories that have never been seen before. Join writers Brian Michael Bendis, David Walker and breakout artist Jamal Campbell in Wonder Comics’ massively ambitious new series and star…NAOMI.

INGRID: A mystery, a young female heroine, and superpowers apparently just in the background? It sounds like a perfect combination to me. I’m hugely looking forward to this one!

Writer: Geoff Johns
Artist: Dale Eaglesham
Publisher: DC
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: “Shazam! and the Seven Kingdoms” part two! The acclaimed team of writer Geoff Johns and artist Dale Eaglesham continue the first all-new ongoing SHAZAM! title in decades!
Billy Batson has uncovered a secret deep within the Rock of Eternity that sends him on his most personal mission yet-one that threatens to tear apart his family! Meanwhile, the truth behind the Rock of Eternity’s purpose and its forbidden past unveils new and familiar worlds (that Dale may go mad drawing)! Plus… talking animals?!

INGRID: The first issue was delightful, and I love the whole Shazam Family already. We left the kids off at a mysterious train station with routes into the Magiclands – you just know they’re going to head off somewhere. But where?

WAYNE: I’m so looking forward to the movie, and this comic is a great way to get ready! Geoff Johns is a fantastic writer, and he enjoys this character tremendously, so it’s a great read!

Writer: James Haick
Artist: Branko Jovanovic
Publisher: Scout Comics
Cover Price: $3.99

SOLICITATION: With the Ringling College settlement on the verge of collapsing, Jake and his friends attempt to lay low amongst the potential chaos until the military reinforcements arrive to help them on their long journey ahead. With the New American hot on their trail, will they even be able to wait long enough for that to happen?

WAYNE: This book is one of those great Indie comics that has successfully transitioned to the mainstream! If you enjoy The Walking Dead, I seriously recommend you pick up this comic!
