The Fantastic Four is returning soon, and with them I hope to see the return of the classic black-and-white Byrne-era FF uniforms. (Fingers crossed, y’all!) While I hate with a passion when The X-Men had a team uniform back in the 1990s, there’s something to be said for the visual of a group of folks wearing perfectly coordinated super-suits. Even when they aren’t identical, but instead on a similar template, like the post-Zero Hour Legion of Super-Heroes, it’s kind of neat, though that team is also an example of what’s wrong with the idea, leading to today’s sartorial query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) actually likes seeing The Terrifics in their new matching black-and-white outfits, even if they’ve only worn them on the cover thus far, asking: Do you or do you not like when a supergroup has a team uniform?

It really depends on the team uniform. Some look great, some are practical, some are downright hideous and pointless. I have nothing against the practice, it is just a case by case basis if I like it or not.
Uniforms are great. It makes it simpler to figure out each character’s personality when they customise their duds.
Plus as any stressed out animator will tell you, it’s easier to reuse the assets, and that’s always good!
If it’s a team from the starting block, like the Fantastic Four or Legion of Super-heroes, then sure.
If it’s a team of all-stars, like the Justice League or Avengers, then no.
