Major Spoilers Question of the Day: Most-Used Word Edition

Matthew PetersonBy Matthew PetersonFebruary 14, 20185 Comments1 Min Read

Here at the MS-QOTD, we have a lot of words that show up repeatedly:  “Superhero.”  “Pop-culture.”  “Query.”  “Daffodil.”  But I try really hard not to repeat myself or get into a rut vis a vis the things we talk about here or the words used to describe them.  Given the repetitious nature of my day job, I repeat many of the same things verbatim over and over during the day, and can easily state that my actual most-used word is actually the name of my employer used as the greeting for my calls, repeated over and over, hundreds of times per day, five days a week, 8 hours per day, which leads us to today’s oratorial (which may or may not actually be a word) query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is certain that, barring work-related redundancies, is probably ‘Frammistat’, or the shorter version, “Fram”, asking: What would you say is your own most-used word?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

Mine is probably “tälleesti”. It Finnish dialect/slang for “like that”, “like this” or “you see”.

“Cheers”…it’s in every one my emails as a sign off. Had spent way too much time with Australians and other countries and got in the habit for many many years now.

      Cheers,
      Patrick

“What?” I’m very hard of hearing, so it gets used far too often.
