Major Spoilers Poll of the Week: Space Zombies

Robot OverlordBy Robot OverlordOctober 10, 201713 Comments1 Min Read

One of the main reasons we started the Major Spoilers Poll of the Week is because we wanted to get you involved in the site. The other reason we started the Major Spoilers Poll of the Week is because the poll represents those odd conversations many of us have had at the LCS.

This week is no exception as the Borg invade Western Pennsylvania.

The Borg, hands down. They are a collective, caring nothing for the individual, so the great terrors of a zombie plague and the moral crises such generate would have no effect on them. If necessary, they’d be perfectly happy sanitizing an entire planet to end the infection. That is, of course, assuming that their super science couldn’t cure it in the first place.

    2. Vrynn on October 10, 2017 1:50 pm

This is a hard question. It depends on whether the collective cybernetic consciousness can control a mindless zombie, or if zombieism overrides the borg collective’s influence.

      • Vrynn on October 10, 2017 1:51 pm

Then again, the Borg have lasers and force fields.

      • Vrynn on October 10, 2017 1:52 pm

…and transporters. It would actually be really easy for them to isolate an outbreak.

    3. silvergray on October 10, 2017 2:42 pm

A zombie borg is still a borg.

    4. Brenning Dragonbred on October 10, 2017 2:46 pm

Borg. The zombie virus/magical transference/whatever wouldn’t have any lasting effect on the Borg, who would likely be able to neutralize whatever causes the zombification process within a matter of hours. You might get a few zombified Borg drones, but they wouldn’t be able to utilize their implants and everything being mindlessly driven (they would likely be just like any other drone with the difference of carrying the zombie plague), and chances are they have some implant in that can destruct in their brain, if they aren’t simply vaporized, beamed and scattered, sliced with lasers or any other number of methods that would end their existence if need be. Even the lowest Borg drone is a walking arsenal, so unless we’ve got some super-intelligent demon zombies, they won’t stand a chance against the Borg.

    5. Malone_hasco on October 10, 2017 3:22 pm

Borg have the obvious technological advantage and they could probably adapt to zombie virus pretty quickly.

    6. Michael on October 10, 2017 4:03 pm

Zombies, you all forget that the borg can’t survive without their organic components, and a zombie virus likes the organic parts

      • Vrynn on October 11, 2017 8:53 am

Yeah, but the borg have enough technology and lack of empathy that, considering they would learn about an outbreak instantly, they could easily isolate and excise any infected drones before they could spread the infection.

    7. Doug Connors on October 10, 2017 4:44 pm

      Resistance is futile.

    8. Marcus on October 10, 2017 5:53 pm

After loosing a few drones the Borg would blow up the planet. A more interesting match would be the Borg and the Cybermen.

      • Stephen Schleicher on October 10, 2017 6:03 pm

Dig around in the archives. I think we did that one four or five years ago.

    9. Sheldon on October 10, 2017 7:10 pm

The Borg has too much going for them. Technology. Organization. Tactics. Pluck. I think the Borg wins easily!
