7) LIVEWIRE

A psiot (which is not a mutant, but close enough for our purposes) in the third major iteration of the Valiant Comics universe, Amanda McKee’s name evokes electrical or lightning powers, but in fact she is a technopath, able to interact with machines and intercept radio transmissions with her mind.

(A previous Livewire had magnetic powers, meaning that two different versions of the character have had powers that are tangential to the electrical expectations of the Livewire nom de guerre. But let’s be honest: It has become a trite and overused alias.)

About Author

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

  1. i’m sad you had Firestar be number one, her Microwave abilities at least set things on fire.
i’d say blackbolt needed to be on the list… that doesn’t “scream” sound powers to me ;)
