This Major Spoilers Poll Of The Week (weeekweeekweeeek) is always an interesting look into the minds of Spoilerites and the MSP crew alike. This time around, it’s a fascinating (and surprising) discussion about comic book worlds and their fitness for civilians, which sparked a thought on my part: WHICH four-color world would be least terrifying? Is it more comforting to have a skyful of Kryptonians (basically bipedal, bulletproof laser generators) or live with the idea that anyone you know could secretly become a mutant and melt your face? I figure, being from the Midwest, I’m sure doomed no matter which universe, leading to today’s escapist query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) would probably choose the DC Universe, so the Berlanti Productions could make a cool TV version that shares only a name with the real me, asking: If you *did* choose to live in a comic-book world, which universe would you prefer?

I would choose something where I’m not constantly in danger of being killed as a bystander of some super brawl, like Archie.
Wise…
I’m gonna go with the Marvel universe, because I’m not into being murdered by clowns.
I’d say DC, but living anywhere other than Gotham, probably Midway or Central City. Heck, if I could take a tour of Atlantis, I’d die a happy man. Of course, like I said in the other question, this depends heavily on era, and I would hate to live in DC or Marvel today.
Probably DC because I get the feeling I’d be chosen as a Lantern, but not the one I WANT to be. Ideally, I WANT to be a Green Lantern and have since childhood, but I think I would likely be Blue (as I tend to be very hopeful, even in the worst of times) or Red (because when people hurt those I care about, I go into a rage that makes The Hulk look tame).
But what amuses me most is many, many comic fan friends who think I would make an excellent Star Sapphire despite the fact I’m male because I apparently exemplify all the aspects of love. I’ve had my heart broken, I’ve stepped aside, I’ve fought for love, I’ve lost a love to death, I love people dearly as family and so on. I don’t know if I see it the way they do, but it is a bit touching that I’m thought of that way. Granted, I’m not so sure I would look good in a skimpy pink outfit, but…
Definitely not Rat Queens, Pretty Deadly, or any Image comic. Too messy. That’s for sure.
The scientists in Marvel seem to work hard to make the world a better place. The billionaires spend their money on people who are trying to do the right thing. With the fifty-state Avengers initiative, there’s a good chance we’d all have guardians. Marvel seems like a winner to me. Who knows? Maybe I’m a mutant or I might find myself with weird skin when the terrigen mist comes rolling through.
