Major Spoilers Question of the Day: Bond Girl Edition

Matthew PetersonBy Matthew PetersonAugust 3, 20173 Comments1 Min Read

Full disclosure: I’m one of the poor Sunday night outcasts who don’t watch ‘Game Of Thrones’.  Ironically, though, I’ve spent the last couple of days clip-diving because a friend made me realize it features Dame Diana Rigg.  Not only is she the best of John Steed’s assistants, not only is she still beautiful at nearly 80, she is the best Bond Girl, a feat made doubly impressive since she was featured in the most unfairly maligned Bond flick, ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.’  Daughter of a powerful underworld figure, she goes by Tracy because “Teresa is a saint”, even marrying James, something her punnily named cohorts never achieved.  Of course, I can’t deny that one of Tracy’s major attributes is “being Diana Rigg,” leading to today’s shaken, not stirred query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) reminds Faithful Spoilerites that “match” may have more than one meaning, asking: Which Bond Girl is the best match for 007?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

Toss up for me. Michelle Yeoh and Barbara Bach. I guess I like spy vs. spy.

It’s got to be Maud Adams, being so good at it that they used her twice.

Naomie Harris – The newest Moneypenny.

I know I’m cheating a little but she’s in Bond films and she’s a woman.
