Adam Strange on Syfy's Krypton television series

[Television] Did Krypton just become the weirdest television series that I want to see?

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJuly 22, 20171 Comment2 Mins Read

I’ll admit it, I’ve never had high hopes for the Krypton series set to debut on the Syfy network, but a new bit of news coming from the San Diego Comic Con has me all kinds of interested.

During the Krypton panel, Geoff Johns revealed the show will feature present day villains going back in time to prevent Superman’s birth. Only one hero can stand against them – ADAM STRANGE!?

While Adam Strange is not a time traveller, he has been known to travel to out space quite a bit.

“Our version of Adam Strange is a little more cynical. We’ll get a lot of fun out of that character. It’s going to be a lot of fun having the history between Adam Strange and Hawkwoman.” -via ComicBook

So… Hawkwoman is in the series, too? Does the Rann/Thanagar War start in this show? Brainiac has been confirmed as the villain, so I don’t know how much Hawkwoman/Adam Strange stuff is going to be explored, but still…

Suddenly, Krypton has gone from a show I didn’t want to watch, to one that has me interested in seeing the first three episodes, and if it does go all crazy with DC characters, it may become the Easter Egg show to watch.

Johns did confirm that Krypton will not be tied to the DC Expanded Universe nor will it be part of other DC television series.

Since it is set in the past, and does tie to present day, why not go for broke and tie it to the CW Universe, or at the very least make it part of the Multiverse? You know that is what they are going to do when Black Lightning gets all the views in 2018, why leave Krypton out? Plus with all the characters show creators said would be appearing in the series, allowing those characters to move back and forth between the different shows and networks seems  a lot easier than locking them down so they can’t play in the DC sandbox.

Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe, The Halcyon) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Krypton premieres in 2018 on SYFY.
