The big news today is news that Cowboy Bebop – the incredibly successful anime from 1998- is set to get the live action treatment at Tomorrow Studios. At this point, information about the series is limited to the studios involved, and those that are producing and writing the adaptation.
All of this brings us to the Major Spoilers Poll of the Week… WHY!?

I think it is one of the few anime I like that would be great in live action, BUT only if they handle it just so. Anime inspired live-action adaptations don’t have the best track record, but then neither did live-action comic book movies and TV shows until relatively recently.
But if they can get the right creative team on it and just the right actors, and as long as they don’t try to heavily alter the story for arbitrary reasons, then yeah, I’d be thrilled.
Live action adaptations of anime properties tend to be awful so my first reaction was heck no! However, I feel that Cowboy Bebop is very ‘realistic’ and that might make the transition easier. So, yes? Cowboy Bebop is one of my favorite shows ever so they better do a good job with it!
Yes with the Caveat that it doesn’t turn into the same deal we had with Death Note
Start to see more and more anime adaptations for the american public, does This mean that hollywood is shoping around for new ideas or is the Dragon Ball Generation is starting to make movies?
I would love to see a good live action adaptation, but that so rarely happens, so I think they should leave well enough alone and not mess up the series.
I’m interested in seeing it. Hopefully they would keep the musical elements from the show, such as the jazz. My only concern is that, if I remember correctly, each episode had a very self contained story so it may not translate to a film that well. Of course its been a while since I saw the anime so I could be completely wrong.
The live-action adaptation is being made into a series, not a film, so that part shouldn’t be much of an issue. If it were a film, I’m sure a lot more people would be voting no (myself included).
