Dating all the way back to 1939, Quality Comics’ mechanical hero straddles the line between superhero adventure and silly gag strip. The euphoniously named Bozo The Iron Man initially played second banana to a two-fisted adventurer named Hugh Hazzard, who would occasionally ride inside the ‘bot’s shell like a suit of armor, presaging Tony Stark’s adventures a quarter-century later. Though nominally part of DC Comics’ acquisition of the Quality characters, Bozo has made only one cameo in an issue of ‘Starman’ since his heyday…
