Last night, I accidentally bumped into a showing of ‘Deadpool’, making it three times that I’ve seen the movie, and no times that I’ve actually intended to. Every time has been enjoyable as heck, though, and I’m always struck by how Wade (Ryan Reynolds) and Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) have the most amazing chemistry I’ve ever seen in a superhero flick. I never believed Scott and Jean in the X-Men movies, and there hasn’t been a decent Clark/Lois romance since Teri Hatcher became a desperate housewife, but I truly believed that Wade and Vanessa were not only into each other, but blissfully so. In fact, their love story ends up being a standout bit of a movie full of excellent quippery, fighty-fighty and a slew of slick visual effects, leading to today’s self-referential query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) isn’t going to mention the Ashley word, but the interactions between Jason Segal and Alysyn Hynnygyn on ‘How I Met Your Mother’ are routinely adorable, asking: Which onscreen couple has the most amazing chemistry of all?

Although it ended in tragedy on the TV series, I have to go with Willow and Tara from “Buffy”. It wasn’t a fairytale relationship by any means, but it was both cute and very realistic. Their similarities and differences went well together (both as characters and as the actors portraying them), and unlike most other romantic relationships in the series, I didn’t feel like it was forced. If I had seen them playing their roles and didn’t realize they were playing the part of their characters, I would have believed they were a real couple.
One that always seemed to be very apparent, even when they tried to downplay it was Mulder & Scully.
I think John Carter and Dejah Thoris was a good couple in the movie “John Carter.”
