There are a lot of quartets in the various worlds of pop culture, be they John, Paul, George and Ringo or Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben.  The four-person configuration makes for a solid band, a decent-sized cast of characters and even a nice number of children for some (though it’s about 3 too many for me, personally.)  I’m always interested in seeing how y’all, the Faithful Spoilerites, quantify things and I want to know about your Fab Four, leading to today’s tetralogical query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) may or may not be super-angry at Jann Wenner about my Top 4, asking: What foursome is your personal Fab Four?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture! And a nice red uniform.

  1. All Japan Pro Wrestling’s “Four Pillars Of Heaven”. Mitsuharu Misawa, Toshiaki Kawada, Akira Taue, and Kenta Kobashi. These guys have more classic matches between them than anyone in WWE can even dream of.
