[Movies] Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch to pen Pokemon movie

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherAugust 17, 20161 Min Read

Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch was pretty quiet about new projects following the series finale of his popular Disney Channel series, but now the curtain has been pulled aside, as Hirsch and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) have been tasked with making the live action Pokemon movie a reality.

There are a lot of raised eyebrows regarding the upcoming Detective Pikachu from Legendary, but now that Hirsch and Perlman are attached, I think I can hear a general sigh of relief.  Perlman knows how to write great comics (Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy), and she has the upcoming Captain Marvel movie on its way to production with Brie Larson, so a cartoon Pokemon solving crimes should be a walk in the park – especially with Hirsch’s sense of humor added in to the mix.

In the video game, Great Detective Pikachu, Pickachu encounters Tim Goodman, who can understand what the little yellow creature is saying. The two begin working together to solve mysteries involving Pokemon in the city.

Oh… Pokemon in the City… the next HBO series. I wonder if Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall are available…
