IDW Publishing is pleased to announce that Laurie Windrow has joined the company as Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, a new role within the organization. In this position, Laurie will develop and manage a strategic roadmap for our sales and marketing efforts across all divisions — including publishing, games and entertainment.
Laurie comes to IDW with more than 25 years of experience in global entertainment, consumer products, and both traditional and interactive publishing businesses. Laurie was most recently Managing Director for Bulldog Licensing, where she managed LIFE, Talking Friends and Garfield. She also has managed business development efforts and consumer products for Build-A-Bear Workshop, Warren Buffet’s Secret Millionaire’s Club and others.
“We are thrilled to have someone of Laurie’s caliber join IDW,” said Greg Goldstein, President and Chief Operating Officer. “As we continue to diversify into new areas, as well as grow our core businesses, we need exactly this kind of expertise on our management team.”
Previously, Laurie was Senior Vice President, Marketing & Licensing, at 4 Kids Entertainment, where she developed the plan to re-launch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) globally with the TV show, consumer product line and marketing initiatives. The TMNT brand was responsible for 35% of the company’s revenues and TMNT once again became a $1 billion brand at retail. She also managed business development, along with sales and marketing strategies for the live-entertainment brand Monster Jam and other entertainment brands, including Pokémon & Classic Nintendo.
Before 4 Kids Entertainment, Laurie was responsible for creating and executing a strategy to establish and manage Discovery Channel’s international consumer products business, which resulted in products that were successfully sold in 52 countries and 18 languages, and generated retail sales of $60 million.
Laurie also held management positions at MGM/ UA Distribution Company, where she developed theatrical distribution strategies and plans.
“This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the world’s leading comic book publishing companies,” Laurie said. “IDW’s properties have a strong and proven track record with consumers, and the company is having great success extending their business into new areas. I am delighted to be working with this talented team.”
