The first big televised award show of the season was last night with the Golden Globe Awards. Between Ricky Gervais poking fun, messed up teleprompters, and whatever the hell Jonah Hill thought he was doing, a few awards were given away.
Before we get to the listing of the awards, if you didn’t watch the Golden Globe Awards this year, you missed pretty much every actor talking about how these awards are bought. Between Gervais straight out saying how studios buy this award for their film, resulting in huge applause and laughter from all the actors, Denzeil in his speech saying how a, I believe publicist, told him that he would win while at a lunch with the Hollywood Foreign Press, and Jim Carry being completely facetious when saying how his life we would be complete if he could just win a third, it was a very surreal experience.

The Revenant and The Martian seemed to be the big winners in the film realm this year, but even that was poked fun at through the course of the night. Director Ridley Scott even seemed confused about the “Comedy” category placement when accepting the Best Picture award. Between Scott’s reaction and Gervais bringing it up all night, I feel a bit better about the confusion and frustration that came out when I talked about it on Zach on Film.
Award season continues on Thursday morning when the Academy Awards aka the Oscars Nominations are announced. Make sure to download Zach on Film this Friday as Stephen and I will be giving are reactions and some predictions for the grand-daddy of film award shows.
