[Television] Supergirl and Martian Manhunter face off against a White Martian

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJanuary 6, 20161 Comment2 Mins Read

CBS sent us a rundown of what we can expect to see in the January 25th episode of Supergirl. If you thought the Martian Manhunter reveal was cool, wait until you see what happens when Supergirl and Hank face off against a White Martian.

“Strange Visitor From Another Planet” – Kara must help Hank face his painful past when a White Martian, a member of the alien race that wiped out his people, kidnaps Senator Miranda Crane (Tawny Cypress), an anti-alien politician. Also, Cat’s estranged son, Adam (Blake Jenner), arrives in National City, on SUPERGIRL, Monday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Well this is an interesting turn. The White Martians are relatively new to the DC Universe, first appearing in JLA #1 in January 1997. The shapeshifting race has been featured as the enemies of the Green Martians, and depending on what history you are reading either evolved separately from the Green Martians, or were an offshoot from the Green and Yellow Martians.

Regardless, one interesting aspect of the White Martians appearing is Jemm, Son of Saturn. In comics, White Saturnians were cloned from White Martian cells, while the Red Saturnians were cloned from Green Martians – which may explain why Jemm got a whole lot of attention a few episodes again.

We’re just a couple of weeks away from the White Martian debut, and with Hank now fully revealed, I wonder how the greater alien storyline will play out.
