I’m really torn on the issue of Axanar. I’ve been a backer of all three of the crowdfunding campaigns and I really love everything they are doing. That said, I can see how they have pushed the boundaries of what CBS/Paramount can, as the IP holder, tolerate in terms of not making money off of the IP. Axanar has pushed past a normal fan film and into a really independent production with the scope of what they are trying to accomplish and while I think that is great and I want to see it come to fruition, some of the aspects of how the funds have been spent could be interpreted as pushing past the profitability line. Actors and some of the production staff are getting (small) paychecks and the intention for the studio is for it to be used in future (original) productions. I can see the argument being made that the line is crossed there. What seems really odd though is that Alec Peters, the producer, has had a number of meetings with the folks over at CBS since the beginning of the project, and it sounds like no one expressed a desire for Axanar to shut down. Of course, I know only what the folks at Axanar have said, but it does sound like there is something else going on here behind the scenes. Alec is apparently going to be making some kind of big statement in the next week or so that may clear things up.

In the end, I would love for the film to ultimately be made, but I know the risks of any Kickstarter/Indegogo project. I’ve backed a dozen or so projects and have been fortunate to see the vast majority of those fulfilled. Still, if Axanar is completely shut down, I’ll be content with the “Prelude to Axanar” short film that has been done and my super-cool uniform patches that I got as my backer rewards.

The Woods was one of those comics I saw on the wall of my lcs and took a chance on it and really liked it. I have V1, but need to get V2 & V3 to get caught up.

I am so glad with what is happening to Archie. It was the first thing I ever read I blame it for making me read everything I can now. It is a little odd to see actual character moments in Archie, but I am so glad for it.
