[Solicitations] IDW Publishing to collect classic Star Wars in new Artist’s Edition

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherDecember 21, 20152 Mins Read

I’ve talked multiple times over the years about how awesome the Artist’s Editions from IDW Publishing are. If you haven’t purchased one yet, you now have a reason as the publisher has announced the upcoming release of Al Williamson’s Star Wars tales in the Artist’s Edition format.

The collection will feature all of Al Williamson’s run on Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in an impressive 14″x21″ black and white collection.

“The collaboration between IDW and Marvel has produced some of the most exceptional collections of reprinted original comic book material ever to be offered,” says Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel. “Al Williamson’s Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Artist’s Edition of the original Marvel Comics film adaptation is a brightly glowing star within the galaxy of immaculate Star Wars content.”

When Williamson passed away in 2010, George Lucas commented, “I was thrilled to be able to have Al depicting those early extended Star Wars adventures for the comic books and newspapers. In capturing the actors who portrayed the characters, he brought the feeling of the films to the page as few other artists have been able to do.”

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Artist’s Edition arrives in April, and is something you can save for now, so you can give it as a gift next holiday season.
