Lizard People, Dear Readers – The Grace of Kings, by Ken Liu

George ChimplesBy George ChimplesOctober 15, 20152 Mins Read

Peter, George and Nathan talk about The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu, a “silkpunk” fantasy story about empires, brotherhood and narwhal submarines

Apologies for the unannounced brief hiatus, but the Lizard People are back and with a (cranky) vengeance talking about grace, kings and The Grace of Kings.

This episode contains extensive spoilers, so consider reading the book before listening. Or do what Nathan did and give up a third of the way through. Why did he do that? Listen and find out! It’s probably not what you think (it’s exactly what you think)!

Episode 00012 will be Aurora by Kim Stanley Robinson, all about space and stuff. Fun!

Kim Stanley Robinson is a New York Times bestseller and winner of the Hugo, Nebula, and Locus awards. He is the author of more than twenty books, including the bestselling Mars trilogy and the critically acclaimed Forty Signs of Rain, The Years of Rice and Salt and 2312. In 2008, he was named a “Hero of the Environment” by Time magazine, and he works with the Sierra Nevada Research Institute. He lives in Davis, California.

George Chimples comes from the far future, where comics are outlawed and only outlaws read comics. In an effort to prevent that horrible dystopia from ever coming into being, he has bravely traveled to the past in an attempt to change the future by ensuring that comics are good. Please do not talk to him about grandfather paradoxes. He likes his comics to be witty, trashy fun with slightly less pulp than a freshly squeezed glass of OJ. George’s favorite comic writers are Warren Ellis and Grant Morrison, while his preferred artists are Guy Davis and Chris Bachalo, He loves superheroes, but also enjoys horror, science fiction, and war comics. You can follow him @TheChimples on Twitter for his ramblings regarding comics, Cleveland sports, and nonsense.
