[Digital Comics] Alabaster Shadows gets digital release ahead of physical delivery

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherOctober 6, 20152 Mins Read

Oni Press, Portland’s premier independent comic book publisher, is running weekly digital chapter releases on ComiXology of the upcoming ALABASTER SHADOWS by Matt Gardner (Floating Hands Studios) and Rashad Doucet (My Dog is a Superhero). The 6-part weekly digital chapter release will begin tomorrow, October 6th and continue every week through November 10th, before the release of the softcover graphic novel on December 9th.

In a graphic novel debut that Kirkus calls “a blend of hearty exposition, intriguing worldbuilding, and lightning-fast action,” ALABASTER SHADOWS is a vividly illustrated tale of conspiracy, friendship, and teamwork. In the vein of GOOSEBUMPS and ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK, ALABASTER SHADOWS takes a look at our willful and curious heroes as they discover what is off about their hometown community.

Before the physical release on December 9th, fans can enjoy the graphic novel in weekly installments via ComiXology, every Tuesday for 6 weeks. ALABASTER SHADOWS is Oni Press’ latest installment of smart comics for kids, which will join the ranks among hits like BAD MACHINERY, COSTUME QUEST: INVASION OF THE CANDY SNATCHERS, COURTNEY CRUMRIN, and JUNIOR BRAVES OF THE APOCALYPSE.

Carter Normandy knows there’s something weird about the neighborhood he and his family move into. Maybe it’s the physics-defying leak in the basement, or the way all the adults seem to look down on kids like they’re scum. With the help of his new friends, Carter discovers a whole other world alongside his seemingly normal community—a world filled with terrifying monsters. A world the adults of the community already know all about. Now it’s up to Carter and his friends to keep these monsters from crossing over into our world, or face the dire consequences!

A gorgeously illustrated mystery perfect for fans of GRAVITY FALLS with just a hint of Lovecraftian horror.
