[SDCC’15] Hasbro and Machinima team for animated Transformers series geared toward adults

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJuly 9, 20152 Comments1 Min Read

It sounds like Hasbro is finally catering to adult fans instead of the kiddies with disposable income, as the toy maker has announced it is teaming with Machinima to develop an animated Transformers series that is a bit more adult in nature.

The story spins out of the Combiner Wars series (you can read that at IDW Publishing).

The series introduces new lore and all-new characters that, combined with the characters fans have known for decades, will bring the TRANSFORMERS storytelling in a new direction as the Machinima series will deliver raging action and signature humor to legions of TRANSFORMERS fans.

The press release features a lot of slapping of the back type statements, so we’ll end it here and not bore you with the “We couldn’t be more excited,” and “We look forward to delivering amazing action, storytelling and characterization that these fans demand, as the Combiner Wars play out across toys, comics, digital games and of course, the brand new animated digital series,” generated words.

Instead, I’m interested in getting your feedback on this news. That’s why we have a comment section after all. Share your thoughts! Get Rowdy! Get Roddy!

I am most curious about the distribution method. Is this going to be streaming, TV, or DVD series? If it is going to be on TV would be worried about it not making it through the first season. I would like to see it go streaming b/c I think that is where the cult following can be heard from the most.

I am excited to see what happens with it especially since I have been enjoying the IDW comics even if I haven’t made it to the Combiner War yet.
