[Market Share] Secret Wars #3 dominates June

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherJuly 6, 20152 Mins Read

Diamond Comic Distributors has released the initial rundown of top selling books released in the direct market in June 2015, and for the top ten, it really isn’t that surprising.

With Batman, Secret Wars, Justice League and more all battling for the top spot, it really isn’t a surprise that the usual suspects show up on the list.

    RANKTITLEPRICEPUBLISHER
    1SECRET WARS #3$3.99MAR
    2AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: RENEW YOUR VOWS #1$3.99MAR
    3STAR WARS #6$3.99MAR
    4JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #1$5.99DC
    5BATMAN #41$3.99DC
    6THORS #1$3.99MAR
    7DARTH VADER #6$3.99MAR
    8X-MEN '92 #1$4.99MAR
    9JUSTICE LEAGUE #41 [*]$4.99DC
    10GROOT #1$3.99MAR

Likewise, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Marvel ate DC’s lunch again grabbing a whopping 43% of the unit share of comics released in the direct market, compared to DC Comics 28%. For DC, this is a slight improvement from May, where the publisher only had 25% of the market share. Even Image Comics saw an increase to grab 10.8% compared to the previous month of 8%.

All of this must mean comic sales continue to grow – especially during the summer where kids have nothing to do all day but sit around and read comics.

Well… individual comic sales dropped over 5% from May, but comic sales are still up 14% compared to this time last year. So from that view, yearly growth continues to climb at an impressive rate.

We will have the complete list of the Top 300 comics sold in the direct market, later this week!
