Fortunately, the Major Spoilers Staff have comic book recommendations for you!
BATMAN #40
Writer: Scott Snyder
Artists: Greg Capullo, Danny Miki
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: The finale of “Endgame” is here! Batman risks everything against The Joker! Who will laugh last?
STEPHEN: I really need to catch up on all of Endgame today before reading this issue, but guess what? I already own this issue! Greg Capullo and Scott Snyder have never disappointed, so this one is in my Always Pull list.
WAYNE: Even though it’s late, this issue is a must-have and must-read as we prepare to move into a new era with this epic creative team. I have to know what happens, so I recommend that you don’t miss it!
FANTASTIC FOUR #645
Writer: James Robinson & Various
Artist: Leonard Kirk & Various
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $5.99
SOLICITATION: THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL FANTASTIC FOUR STORY CONCLUDES IN AN EXTRA-SIZED SPECIAL!
• Will the Fantastic Four defeat The Quiet Man and the corrupted forces of the Heroes Reborn universe?
• Will the Johnny get his powers back? Will Reed and Sue be a family again?
• Will this be the end or will this be 4ever?!
MATTHEW: No, breathless solicitation writer, this will not be “4-ever.” (Your pun is bad and you should feel bad!) But it’s at least worth seeing how they handle the temporary end of one of the cornerstones of the Marvel Universe…
JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS #2
Writer: Kelly Thompson
Artist: Sophie Campbell
Publisher: IDW Publishing
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: JERRICA BENTON is JEM-but does she have what it takes to lead her underdog band against the mega-popular MISFITS?
MATTHEW: The first issue of this title was surprising, in all the bsst ways, and I’m hoping it’s a huge massive mega-hit, but either way, I’m hoping for more of the excellent art and tight character-driven writing we got in #1…
MULTIVERSITY #2
Writer: Grant Morrison
Artist: Ivan Reis and Joe Prado
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $5.99
SOLICITATION: Every event in the history of the DC Universe has been leading to this! The final chapter of the greatest adventure of all time is here! Issue #1 artist Ivan Reis reteams with mastermind Grant Morrison to end THE MULTIVERSITY and bring together the greatest and bravest heroes of the DC Multiverse to fight one last battle. But more than just some cabal of super-villains, they face the greatest evil that ever existed. An evil so massive, they actually may not stand a chance!
Who are the mystic Justice League of Earth-13 and what role does their leader Super Demon play in the crisis rising all around them? What shocking secret motivates the dark, nightmare henchmen known as The Gentry? And what is the final fate of Nix Uotan – the Super-God?!
MATTHEW: Man, the solicit-writers really turned it up to 11 this week, didn’t they? Still, I’m looking forward to seeing how this one ends. Morrison generally ends his crossovers with a massive “Wha HUH?”, so that should be fun…
STEPHEN: Can’t wait to see how the multiverse hopping adventure ties in to Convergence! Am I right? Right? Guys… guy… All things considered, this is should have been the band-aid that DC should have gone with. Can’t wait to read it in a few hours! WOOOHOOOO!
WAYNE: Mr. Morrison’s Multiversity has been an excellent event, something very special I think will be remembered by comics fans for years to come. It all wraps up here, so I’m seriously looking forward to it!
PASTAWAYS #2
Writer: Matt Kindt
Artist: Scott Kolins
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: As the grim realities of immortality become too much to bear, the team is called together to investigate a mysterious piece of monolithic technology that has fallen out of time! Plus, the PastAways’ lives in the distant future are revealed!
WAYNE: This book is fast becoming a favorite of mine. I loved the first issue, can’t wait for the story to continue this week! Highly recommended!
SILK #3
Writer: Robbie Thompson
Artist: Stacy Lee
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: SILK VS. BLACK CAT– not looking good for Ms. Moon! Silk’s been picking at the edges of Black Cat’s operation and Felicia Hardy has had about enough. Plus a last page appearance of some very familiar folks!
ROB: Silk is the best character Marvel’s created in some time and I’m rather enjoying seeing her story unfold.
SUPERIOR IRON MAN #8
Writer: Tom Taylor
Artist: Yildiray Cinar
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: A phantom from Tony’s past is back to haunt him. It’s Iron Man versus Iron Man but who or what is in Tony’s old armor?
ROB: Tony is still a super-dick and I’m still super excited to read more about him. Iron vs. Iron is just great.
TMNT ONGOING #45
Writer: Tom Waltz, Kevin Eastman
Artist: Mateus Santolouco
Publisher: IDW Publishing
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: The Turtles return from Burnow Island to find unimaginable tragedy. As the family struggles to cope, an enraged Foot Clan prepares its revenge. It’s all been building to this…the start of the final storyline leading to #50!
ROB: HOLY wow was the end of the last issue something. Now we get to see the full fallout of that story and I want to know what that is going to be.
