SOLICITATION: A decision Barbara made during her darkest days in Gotham City returns to haunt her! What was it? And how does it tie into the evil imposter Batgirl? Find out here!

WAYNE: I think this is one of the most creative and enjoyable comics on the stands today! Since this is the last issue until after Convergence, I’m going to get every drop of enjoyment out of it until #41 arrives! Excellent book!

gijoeG. I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO #211

SOLICITATION: THE RETURN OF SERPENTOR! G.I. JOE’s plan to control an unknown force goes awry, and the former Cobra Emperor now commands a powerful weapon that even G.I. JOE might not be able to stop. The reign of SERPENTOR begins again in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #211!

GEORGE: If we get just one “This, I command!” out of it, it’s all worth it.

GRWMCGN1coverGIANT ROBOT WARRIOR MAINTENANCE CREW GN
    Writer: Nate Hill
    Artist: Mervyn McCoy

Publisher: Cosmic Times

Cover Price: $9.99
SOLICITATION: Erica Pratch always wanted to pilot a giant robot, but when she received her rejection notice, she opted for the next best thing – working inside of one as part of the maintenance crew. Now along with a eclectic crew of mechanics and misfits, she saves the galaxy every day by making sure that, despite the efforts of the inept pilots and an infestation of space parasites, Herotron makes it home from every mission in one piece. This trade paperback collects the entire hit mini-series plus extra material.

WAYNE: If you had trouble getting the individual issues when they were released, the wait is now over! This fun adventure is now yours for a great price, so be sure to pick it up at your local shop! I enjoyed this story a lot, and I think you will, too!

LittleNemo-04-cov-1-08519pickoftheweekLITTLE NEMO RETURN TO SLUMBERLAND #4
    Writer: Eric Shanower
    Artist: Gabriel Rodriguez
    Publisher: IDW Publishing
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Nemo’s first new adventure in Slumberland concludes in gorgeous and surreal fashion, courtesy of Shanower and Rodriguez!

ROB: The New Nemo has been mostly reticent about his adventures in Slumberland, but I have not been. This book is creative and gorgeous and a fitting re-introduction of Winsor McKay’s work.

STEPHEN: WOW, WOW, WOW! This book has knocked me on my backside with every single issue. Great homage to the Winsor McKay classic with art that is astounding.

    redoneRED ONE #1
    Writer: Xavier Dorison
    Artist: Terry Dodson, Rachel Dodson
    Publisher: Image Comics
    Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: What happens when America’s greatest hero…is a Russian Spy?
Soviet Agent Vera Yelnikov is sent to 1977 Los Angeles by the Kremlin to become an American Superhero and spread communist values in the land of Uncle Sam in a funky superhero romp straight out of a Tarantino film by TERRY & RACHEL DODSON (Uncanny X-Men, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Harley Quinn) and XAVIER DORISON (Long John Silver, The Third Testament).

GEORGE: I like Soviet Russia, Dodson art, and superheroes, so there’s not much that doesn’t interest me about Red One. The set-up sounds like the perfect plan, without any holes at all, absolutely.

    STK659332ROCKETEER THE COMPLETE ADVENTURES TP
    Writer: Dave Stevens & Various
    Artist: Dave Stevens
    Publisher: IDW Publishing
    Cover Price: $19.99
SOLICITATION: Cliff Secord, a down-on-his-luck pilot, is always looking for ways to make a fast buck. Discovering a stolen rocket pack could be the one thing that will turn his fortunes around… but will it? What follows are government agents, German spies, deception, danger, and adventure. This is the world of… the Rocketeer! All of Dave Stevens’ original comics collected in one book!

MATTHEW: I have the original issues, but not everybody can afford and/or find ‘em. If you’ve ever wondered what this whole ‘Rocketeer’ thing is all about, here’s your chance to see Dave Stevens work firsthand.

    SILK2015001001-col-2e5a7-b6e77pickoftheweekSILK #2
    Writer: Robbie Thompson
    Artist: Stacey Lee

    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: • Silk fights a familiar foe with metal tentacles!
    • And there’s much you still don’t know about Silk! Find more out here!

MATTHEW: The first issue was pretty cool, and I’m enjoying Cindy’s place in the Spider-Man mythos. Here’s hoping it doesn’t go off the rails immediately.

ROB: Silk has been one of the more interesting characters to come out of Spider-Verse, but seeing Parker as a side-line support character has made this book for me.

    STRANGE_SPORTS_STORIES_1_548b79b7ca28e4.46625114STRANGE SPORTS STORIES #1
    Writer: Various
    Artist: Various

Featuring stories and art by Brian Azzarello, CM Punk, Paul Pope, Gilbert Hernandez, Lauren Beukes, Ben McCool, Ivan Brandon, Monica Gallagher, Lee Loughridge, Nick Dragotta, Christopher Mitten, Darick Robertson, Mark Finn, John Lucas, Gabe Soria, Ronald Wimberly, Michael DiMotta, Tim Fish, Rael Lyra and many more!

MATTHEW: A long time ago, I got a Strange Sports Stories in a pile of comics from a used book store, and it was really bizarre. I’m wondering what this anthology is going to be like, it’s fun to see DC doing things that are off the beaten path.

    spreadSPREAD #6

    Artist: Kyle Strahm
    Publisher: Image Comics
    Cover Price: $3.50
SOLICITATION: Spreadworms, Sirens, Raiders, Cannibals, The Preacher. Everything collides. Almost everybody dies. The first arc ends here.

GEORGE: Spread is disgusting, stylishly rendered, post-apocalyptic goodness, so of course I like it. It’s basically The Road mixed with body horror, fronted by a baby and a Bartleby-esque dude with a penchant for axes. Bonkers and fun.

    tmnt44TMNT ONGOING #44
    Writer: Tom Waltz, Kevin Eastman
    Artist: Cory Smith
    Publisher: IDW Publishing
    Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: “Attack on Technodrome” Part 4! Minutes remain before the Technodrome fully activates and Shredder, Krang and the Turtles all vie for control. No side will be left unscathed in this epic climax as one character makes an ultimate sacrifice!

ROB: Have I mentioned that I am enjoying this iteration of the Ninja Turtles? Oh, I have? Well, that’s because it’s awesome.
