Calista Flockhart to play Cat Grant in CBS’s Supergirl

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherFebruary 23, 20152 Comments1 Min Read

According to Variety, Ally McBeal star, Calista Flockhart has been cast as a series regular in the upcoming CBS series, Supergirl.

    tothewiki

Cat first appeared in Adventures of Superman #424 (January 1987) as a gossip columnist for the Daily Planet. Introduced as a potential love interest for Clark Kent, her character added a new dimension to the Clark/Lois Lane/Superman dynamic.

In the television series, Cat Grant is a media magnate and founder of CatCo., where Kara Zor-El, played by Melissa Benoist, works as her assistant. Flockhart as Cat Grant works for me on some level, though every time I think of Cat Grant and Supergirl together in the same room, I instantly picture this exchange.

The series, based on the DC Comics characters, follows Kara, Superman’s cousin, at age 24, when she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be, after leaving Krypton and hiding the powers she shares with her famous relative.

What do you think, Spoilerites; is Flockhart right for the role?

I think of that scene a lot anyway. Not only is it hilarious, but I have a picture sitting on my desk of a couple friends of mine recreating it (with my friend Beth wearing one of my Supergirl costumes).

As for how I feel about the casting, I’ll have to wait and see. I’m neither for or against her casting at this point until I get a better feel of what the series will be like.

I think I can get behind this.
Very happy to see this show starting to come together.
